Biggest Mistakes Made While Ordering a Dumpster

If you are undergoing a home renovation project or simply want to clean your garage or basement; be forewarned, the amount of trash could be much larger than you think and cleaning the mess yourself is quite a stressful endeavor.

This is where Red Dog Dumpsters comes in, call us to deliver a dumpster right to your driveway. Our 10 YD dumpster has one door that opens in the back and our 15 YD dumpster has two doors that open in the back making carrying those large items into the dumpster much easier.

Now if you are ordering a dumpster for the first time, it is not unnatural to make a few mistakes. Many people who rent dumpsters for the very first time make some common mistakes that ultimately costs them a lot more money than they estimated. To prevent you from making such mistakes, we have compiled a list of the biggest mistakes people tend to make while renting a dumpster.

So here you go

1. Ordering a dumpster that’s too small or too big

It is one of the most common mistakes people make while ordering a dumpster. Dumpsters are available in various shapes and sizes such as 10 yard, 15 yard and as big as a 40 yard dumpster. To see exactly what your dumpster will look like on your driveway, do a google search of Red Dog Dumpsters and select “see photos”. This will give you a better idea of the size of dumpster that you need.

Keep in mind that if you order a smaller sized dumpster that doesn’t meet your needs you are likely going to need a second dumpster. A smart decision will be to order our 15 YD dumpster for only a little more instead of paying for a second dumpster.

2. Renting from the first company that comes across

It is also a common mistake to think that all the dumpster companies offer the same services.

It is essential to know that various companies offer different pricing, weight and time limits. It is imperative that you do your research before ordering your dumpster. Again, if you do a google search for Red Dog Dumpsters you can read our reviews and know that you will be in good hands when you rent from us. You can see our pricing, weight limits, rental periods – all on our website. When you order from Red Dog, we will text you the day before you are due for pickup to remind you and you can respond that you are ready or you need additional time at $7.00/day.

3. Rental Period

Pay attention to the rental period and know ahead of time how you will be charged. Our normal rental period is 7 days and then $7.00/day, we also offer a 30 day rental period in which you add $100.00 to the weekly rate and you get a week free. We also have an option where you rent for the week, and we will charge you at pickup based on which option is cheaper - $7.00/day or the 30 day rate.

4. Not obtaining permits

If you plan to place the dumpster on the road, you need to get a permit from the city in which you live. We are unable to place on the street without the permit as we would be fined.

In conclusion, while these mistakes may not appear to be of great magnitude, knowing them ahead of time will save you money and time.
